Introduction to the Angels (Mala'ika)
Angels are a creation of Allah made from light (Noor). Unlike humans, they do not possess free will and exist solely to obey the commands of Allah. Belief in angels is the second article of faith in Islam.
Classification: The Four Archangels
The most prominent angels mentioned in the Quran and Hadith have specific, universe-governing responsibilities:
- Hazrat Jibrail (A.S): The Archangel of Revelation; responsible for delivering Allah's messages to the Prophets.
- Hazrat Mikaeel (A.S): Responsible for rainfall, nourishment, and the distribution of provisions (Rizq).
- Hazrat Israfeel (A.S): The blower of the Trumpet (Soor); responsible for announcing the Day of Judgment.
- Hazrat Izraeel (A.S): The Angel of Death (Malak-ul-Maut); responsible for taking the souls of living beings.

- Angels do not eat, sleep, or reproduce. They are genderless spiritual beings.
- Hazrat Jibrail (A.S) is also referred to in the Quran as Rooh-ul-Ameen (The Trustworthy Spirit) and Rooh-ul-Qudus (The Holy Spirit).
- Kiraman Katibin consist of two angels: the one on the right writes good deeds, and the one on the left writes bad deeds.
- The number of angels is known only to Allah, but they are described as being present in every corner of the heavens and earth.
