Hadith Science
Introduction to Hadith & its Sciences
Hadith refers to the sayings, actions, and silent approvals of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is the second primary source of Islamic law (Sharia) after the Quran. The Science of Hadith (Usul al-Hadith) was developed to authenticate these reports and distinguish genuine narrations from fabrications.
Classification: The Authenticity of Hadith
- Sahih (Sound): Narrations with a continuous chain of reliable, memory-strong narrators.
- Hasan (Good): Narrations that meet Sahih standards but with slightly less precision in narrator memory.
- Da'if (Weak): Narrations with gaps in the chain or unreliable narrators.
- Maudu (Fabricated): Reports falsely attributed to the Prophet (PBUH).
