Introduction to Salat (Prayer)

Salat is the second pillar of Islam and the most significant act of worship performed daily by Muslims. It serves as a direct connection between the believer and Allah. Salat was made obligatory for all Muslims during the event of Miraj (the Night Journey).

Classification: Types of Salat

  • Farz (Obligatory): The five daily prayers (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha) and Jumu'ah (Friday) prayer.
  • Wajib (Necessary): Prayers like Witr (with Isha) and the two Eid prayers (Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha).
  • Sunnat: Prayers performed by the Prophet (PBUH) regularly, either emphasized (Mu'akkadah) or not (Ghair Mu'akkadah).
  • Nafl (Voluntary): Extra prayers performed for additional reward (e.g., Tahajjud, Ishraq).
